Well-meaning tech initiatives often promise "cloud portals" to fix this. But in real-world West Africa, where fiber lines don't run and mobile data towers drop connection whenever power fluctuates, a purely cloud-dependent website turns grade submission into a total nightmare. Teachers were forced to travel miles to internet cafes just to upload basic marks, or give up entirely when pages timed out mid-session.
At Edubyte Africa, we realized we needed to flip the script. We stopped building web apps that demand active internet, and started building offline desktop engines powered by Electron and embedded SQLite with Write-Ahead Logging (WAL).
